  • Senators passed a motion against tax-free textbook legislation. SG argues this legislation will end up raising tuition for students. SG recommends other measures to reduce the cost of textbooks, including urging faculty to use older editions of a textbooks, asking that textbooks lists be submitted earlier so students can shop for used textbooks and posting textbook lists and ISBNs online on the university course schedule.
  • Solar panels are being considered for the Student Services Building, but solar panels for the Student Union are not a priority at the moment.
  • Senators passed a motion in support of a foreign language residence hall at the university.
  • Know Your Rights Day cost $1,200. More than 50 students showed up for the event.
  • A possible hygiene survey will be given to freshmen to judge the risk of meningitis in the residence hall due to open fall 2009.
  • New parking signs that clarify parking rules will be placed around the university.
  • SG hoodies and t-shirts were handed out to SG senators.

The next meeting will be at 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 18 in the Student Union Galaxy Rooms.
