UTD Police Chief on leave pending investigation

UTD Police Chief Colleen Ridge was placed on paid administrative leave April 16, 2009, pending the outcome of an investigation conducted by The University of Texas System and UTD, according to a release from the Office of Communications.

UT System Assistant Director of Police Mike Tacker will serve as the University's acting chief during the interim.

HOSA racks up top honors at state

The UTD division of Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) sent 27 students to the 2009 Spring State Leadership Conference in McAllen and returned with 12 first-, 10 second-, and two third-place awards. At the conference, students from all across Texas who are interested in pursuing health-care careers compete in categories including Creative Problem Solving, Medical Spelling, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Job Seeking Skills, Medical Reading and Nursing Assisting.

The students' performance is a continuation of the HOSA's award-winning performance over the last three years.

Students interested in the Green Fellowship can meet previous recipients and learn more about the program from program directors at the Green Fellows Poster Presentation 2-4 p.m. on April 30 at the UT Southwestern North Campus ND Building, in the 4th floor lobby.
