Four more UTD Police Department employees were placed on administrative leave June 5 as the result of an ongoing investigation, including Asst. Police Chief Debra Marable, Officer Ryan Ballard, noncommissioned guard Tammy Grigg and administrative assistant Mary Spradlin.

The investigation relates to the use of state resources, according to UTD's release, but few other details about the investigation are available and multiple police employees said they could not comment on the department.

"Reserving comment during pending investigations involving legal matters is standard operating procedure in most organizations, and is a matter of fairness to all involved," Vice President for Communications Susan Rogers said.

According to UTD's online job listings, the search for a chief of police opened June 10 and will remain open until filled. Former UTD Police Chief Colleen Ridge was placed on administrative leave April 16 and resigned May 11.

Online job listings also indicate the department is looking to hire at least one senior guard, sergeant, police officer, police communications supervisor and police communications operator.

UT System Asst. Director of Police Mike Tacker is currently acting chief of UTD PD, and at least one UT System police car has been seen on campus.

Rogers said the number of UT System police on campus varied.

"UT System police are a single force with units across the state under the command of local chiefs," she said. "Officers whose permanent assignments are at one campus may be deployed to other locations to help out as needed."
