Sam Johnson is a seven-term incumbent and served 29 years in the U.S. Air Force, seven of which he spent as a POW in Vietnam.

He voted against the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 and supports a federal Marriage Protection Amendment, off-shore oil exporation in U.S. coastal areas, development of alternative energy sources, right to gun ownership and the deportation of all illegal immigrants, according to www.samjohnson.house.gov.

Tom Daley moved his software company to McKinney in 1999 and left the business world after selling it. Daley received his law degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in Fort Worth.

Daley said immigration policy must be driven by demand for a reliable work force. He proposes national debt reduction by phasing out oil and agriculture subsidies, streamlining defense contracts, and investment in education, according to www.tomdaleyforcongress.com.

Christopher Claytor served in the U.S. Army for five years, six years in the National Guard, and is currently in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Claytor opposes the federal income tax, the Patriot Act and wants to withdraw all troops from Iraq as soon as possible. He believes birth-right citizenship should be abolished, and anyone who wants to come to the country to work will be allowed to immigrate freely and quickly become a citizen, according to www.claytorforcongress.org.

Ralph Hall is a 14-term incumbent. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and reveived a law degree from Southern Methodist University.

Hall supports U.S. President George W. Bush's tax cuts drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Reserve (ANWR), is pro-life, wants to increase NASA's budget and opposes timelines to withdraw troops from Iraq according to www.house.gov/ralphhall.

Glenn Melancon was born in Germany and moved to Texas after receiving a doctorate degree in history from Louisiana State University.

Melancon supports universal health care, benchmarks for progress in Iraq and believes the government, not private corporations, needs to control the development of alternative energy sources, according to www.melanconforuscongress.net.

Fred Annett is a disabled veteran who retired from the U.S. Army in 2005. He has one son who has been deployed to Iraq since October 2008.

Annett supports gay marriage and adoption, stem cell research, the death penalty and giving Alien Social Security Cards for immigrants who enter the country legally. He is against gun control and wants to remove all troops from Iraq in 2009, according to www.myspace.com/fredannett.

Jeb Hensarling is a three-term incumbent who received a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin and served on former Sen. Phil Gramm's staff for several years.

He authored the "Family Budget Protection Act," a budget reform bill that would imposing spending limits on government agencies and supports traditional Republican policies, according to www.house.gov/hensarling.

Ken Ashby does not have a campaign Web site, but is endorsed by the Libertarian Party of Texas. The party opposes an income tax, toll roads, universal health care and any legislation that gives a definition of what a family is. The party supports repealing the "No Child Left Behind Act," medical marijuana and work visas for all "peaceful" immigrants.

Kenny Marchant is a two-term incumbent and received a bachelor's and honorary doctorate degree from Southern Nazarene University. He has a charity called the Marchant Family Foundation.

He strongly supports gun rights and cosponsored legislation requiring all states to recognize concealed firearm permits. He supports the troop surge in Iraq, is against amnesty and Social Security for immigrants, and supports alternative energy sources, according to marchant.house.gov.

Tom Love supports a universal health care plan and the State Children's Healthcare Insurance Program (SCHIP). He believes in border security involving information technology, physical barriers and a check points. Love wants stronger vocational education and an end to the "religious" war in Iraq, according to www.tomlovefortexas.com.

David Casey is a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he spent eight years as an enlisted sailor and a civillian nuclear facilities analyst.
